Ghee lamps are used in nearly every Tibetan and Indian temple, household and altar.
In Buddhism, the light from the flame of the ghee lamp symbolizes the wisdom of the awakened mind, dispelling the darkness of delusion and mental obscurations.
They are traditionally burned with ghee butter as clarified butter is said to be more sattvik (spiritually pure).
In Hindu religion it is a form and a symbol of Tej (Absolute fire principle).
The lamp is leading us from darkness towards light and it burns only to give message of peace and light to all mankind.
