Basic set for Kodo
Kodo means 'way of the scent'; it is, like Ikebana (traditonal flower arranging), a classic Japanese technique and lifestyle.
The idea, like many Japanese things, seems simple:
Fill a kodo cup with white rice ash, bury a glowing charcoal tablet in it and add the mica plate where you place ontop your incense, wood chips...
This way you burn the incense but heat it, thus preventing that direct heat distorts the pure scents.
Looks easy but this technique requires a great deal of discipline but it will open a beautiful world of meditation and self discovery.
This basic set contains:
2 metal chopsticks
1 ash press
1 metal tong
1 mica plate
