Lapland delicious river snack
Jukola is lightly smoked, air-dried pike, making it a delicious, healthy and versatile snack.
It has been a staple food of many Northern people. In Lapland it is said that Jukola is the substitute for bread.
For making Jukola, Wilma only uses sustainable harvested fish (pike) that is preserved the natural way by salting, smoking and air drying.
No chemical additives or preservates are used; this way the essence of the fishes flavour is best captured.
You can eat the strips as a quick snack or treat, serve it as an appitizer before a meal or with drinks, serve with butter or eat as is, cut the strips and sprinkle over green / seaweed salad.
You can also rehydrate the strips and use in your dishes or soups.
When kept in a dry environment, Jukola has a long shelf life, and together with its low weight to nutritional value ratio, it is ideal food to take an camping trip, hike or canoe expedition.
