Gyokuro, by conaisseurs defined as the finest of green teas, was developed in Uji, in the Kyoto region of Japan.
Gyokuro ('jade dew' or 'pearl dew' in English) is made only with the limited first flush leaf and therefor very much seen as a luxury and rare commodity; to attest to this, in ancient days, this tea was reserved only for the Emporer and his family!
