The False Rose of Jericho, the plant that never dies!
The False Rose of Jericho (Selaginella lepidophylla) is a fascinating plant native to the deserts of Mexico and the southwestern United Staten.
In dry state it forms a compact, brown bulb. Upon contact with water, it unfolds into a vibrant, green plant within 60 to 90 minutes, earning it the nickname "resurrection plant."
A miracle of nature, this remarkable plant can be let to bloom and dry out as often as you like, without solid soil.
When moist, the rose is used for its fresh scent and to expel smoke, while when dried, it spreads a scent that keeps pests away.
Not to be confused with the Real Rose of Jericho.

Additional information
The natural biotope of the False Rose of Jericho
The rose of Jericho, a desert plant, grows naturally in extraordinarily arid regions of Mexico. It endures long periods without water and continues to grow when it receives moisture.
This 'rose' can grow and reproduce for long periods in desert areas like a normal plant, until its environment can no longer guarantee its survival.
When the plant has lost all its moisture, the dry branches curl inwards and form into a round ball. The roots withdraw from the earth and the plant allows itself to be blown by the desert wind, until one day it has found a damp place where it can continue to grow. The ball unfolds, spreads and leaves its spores, which germinate under the right conditions.
You could say that this plant is scanning its environment, it doesn't necessarily stay in the first place it stops, but 'waits and sees' to see if its new environment is suitable enough for growth, if not it can migrate many times further.
